REPAIRS TO INVERNESS LEISURE COMPETITION POOL

19 January 2009

Management at Inverness Leisure have identified a fault which has developed in the pipe work which feeds water to the competition pool. At this stage they unable to say whether it is related to the recent refilling of the competition pool following the fire in September last year.

Donald Macpherson, Operations Manager and the person responsible for the plant and maintenance of the Bught Lane facilities said, “A fault has been identified in a pipe which takes the water from the pool to the point at which the water is heated.

“On identifying the fault, we immediately put measures into place to start works to remedy the situation and ensure the competition pool water retained its temperature for our customers.

“Until we have had our technical reports back, we are unable to say what has caused the fault.

“Suffice to say that in order to be able to bring the system fully back on line this will involve a small section of the competition pool pipe work being replaced. And to be able to do this it will involve a short restriction of access to the competition pool over a single day.

He continued, “From discussions with our contractors we have agreed that our priority is to minimize disruption to our customers. Therefore it has been agreed that to enable works to take place we will close the competition pool to the public at 9.00am on Tuesday 20th January and re-open it “business as usual” the following morning at 6.00am.

Commenting on the fault and the restrictions to the Competition pool, James Martin, General Manager said, “We obviously deeply regret having to limit access to the facilities on Tuesday, however we have done all that we possibly can to expedite the repair work to minimize disruption to our customers.

“When you consider the thousands of metres of pipe work located in the swimming pool plant rooms at Inverness Leisure, I believe this fault is not something could have been predicted by anyone.

He concluded, “We would once again apologise to our customers and re-iterate our thanks for their support and patience.
