Inverness Leisure Swimming Programme

Following a review our new Inverness Leisure Swimming Programme is now in place for children's group lessons. These lessons take school-age children from novice through to club entry standard, gaining aqua skills and confidence as they learn their strokes. Each group now concentrates on one stroke, this will allow children to develop their swimming with ease and a little more speed.

Joining a class: please apply via the waiting list and we will be in contact to offer a space whenone is available.

Progression:
SWIM CONFIDENCE Be able to kick with one float on front and back. Float on front and back, regaining feet after. Jumping in and confidence in putting face in the water.
SWIM START Able to kick with no boards, front and back with good body position over 5m. Push and glide, front and back and attempt body dolphin.
SWIM BACKCRAWL 2x5m backcrawl with correct arm action. Deep water confidence and jumping in, frontcrawl side breathing with floats over 5m. Body dolphin.
SWIM FRONTCRAWL 2x10m frontcrawl with correct breathing and arm action. Revise backcrawl over 10m. Body dolphin over 10m with arms by side.
SWIM BREASTSROKE Frontcrawl and backcrawl over 15m. Breaststroke with correct timing, breathing, arm and leg action over 15m. Lung/plunge dives and surface dives.
SWIM FLY Swim 2x25m of each stroke as warm up. Full stroke and kick only. Swim 25m fly kick and 25m fly with correct arms and breathing. Sculling and surface dives.
SWIM DISTANCE Attempt tumble turns. Swim 100m of 3 strokes and 2x25m of fly. Lane discipline. 100m continuous Individual Medley.
SWIM CLUB PREP Swim 200m of each stroke, and 2x50m fly. Perform tumble turns. Learn touch turns, backcrawl start and use of pace clock.
